Serbia sends aid to Ukraine in electrical power equipment

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today, upon the dispatch of a truck to Ukraine with electrical power equipment from the company DB Schenker in Simanovci, that Serbia expresses solidarity with the population of Ukraine and condemns all attacks on civilian population and facilities in that country and any use of force contrary to international law.

The send-off of the equipment was also attended by Minister of European Integration in the Government of the Republic of Serbia Tanja Miščević and Ambassador of Japan to Serbia Takahiko Katsumata.

Brnabic stated that Serbia will continue to provide humanitarian aid to that country to the extent possible.

She explained that Ambassador of Japan to Serbia Takahiko Katsumata, the country that currently chairs the G7 group, and Head of the European Union Delegation in Serbia Emanuele Giaufret called on Serbian government representatives to consider the donation of electrical power equipment.

We included in this process our electric power companies EPS and EMS, which own this type of equipment. Today, we are implementing the conclusion of the Serbian government from 19 January and sending this aid to Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, said the Prime Minister.

Brnabic noted that we donated €3 million during the donor conference in Warsaw and two state-of-the-art ambulances in September, on the initiative of the wife of the President of Serbia, Tamara Vucic. A summer school for the recovery of Ukrainian children was organised in Banja Koviljaca too.

In accordance with the conclusion of the National Security Council, which was adopted by the Serbian government on 27 February last year, Serbia will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the extent possible, Brnabic added.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Serbia Volodymyr Tolkach stated that more than 50 percent of the country's energy infrastructure has been destroyed so far, so help in rebuilding the energy infrastructure is necessary.
