Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture

Yesterday, Novi Sad became the European Capital of Culture. In line with the priorities of A New European Agenda for Culture 2018, all EU initiatives in the area of culture are aimed at contributing to regional and local development and cultural diversity, through a wide spectrum of support to cultural and creative sectors. This also contributes to raising awareness of the importance of culture for social cohesion and well-being, as well as of the common history and values, strengthening the common European identity.

Ideas for the future on the EU PRO Plus calendar for 2022

Aleksandra Ivić, a student of the Art School from Niš, has won the first prize in the competition for the calendar of EU programs for local development – EU PRO Plus for 2022, while the second and third place went to Milica Stevanović from the First Niš Grammar School "Stevan Sremac'' and Natalija Pavličević from Blace High School. According to the votes of the audience and the expert jury, their artworks responded best on the competition theme "Your ideas, your future", while Grammar School from Kraljevo was declared the best school based on commitment and dedication in preparing the school competition.

Conference ‘Serbia’s Youth on the Future of Europe - Ideas and Vision’

The Ministry of European Integration is organising a conference titled ‘Serbia’s Youth on the Future of Europe - Ideas and Vision’, which will be held on Friday, 10 December 2021, starting at 11:00. The Conference will be opened by Jadranka Joksimović, the Minister of European Integration of the Republic of Serbia. The speakers at the introductory panel will also include Vanja Udovičić, the Minister of Youth and Sport, Damjan Bergant, the Slovenian Ambassador to Belgrade, Mateja Norčič Štamcar, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, prof. Vladan Đokić, PhD, Rector of the University of Belgrade, and Mihailo Vesović, Director of the Division for Strategic Analyses, Services, And Internationalization at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Results of the competition for the best student papers on the EU

The following papers have received the highest marks at the competition for the best student papers on the EU, which the Ministry of European Integration organised on 18 August 2021:

1.   “Green Agenda for the Western Balkans: Challenges and perspectives of green transition and sustainable development in Serbia”, student: Sava Mitrović, Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade (first prize);

2.    “EU enlargement policy: revised methodology, new incentives and confusion over terminology”, student: Jovana Popova, Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade (second prize);

3.    “One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind: advantages of the Republic of Serbia in overcoming the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and achieving sustainable future”, student: Ivona Leskur, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade (third prize).

In view of the difficult health situation in the territory of the Republic of Serbia and issues that the COVID-19 epidemic has caused in the preparation and submission of student papers, the Ministry of European Integration has extended the deadline for the submission of papers for the Competition for the best student papers on Serbia’s European integration and EU accession process.
