The Department for the Coordination of the Accession Process, Coordination of the Preparation and Implementation of the National Programme for the Adoption of the Acquis and Monitoring of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement performs tasks related to the following: coordination, monitoring and reporting related to the process of accession to the European Union; coordination of the preparation of documents related to the process of accession to the European Union, including the National Programme for the Adoption of the Acquis; coordination of the preparation and implementation of the National Programme for the Adoption of the Acquis; coordination of the implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement and the work of joint bodies established by that agreement; cooperation coordination of state administration bodies with the European Commission and other expert bodies of the European Union, as well as cooperation in the process of association and accession with European Union institutions, member states, candidates and potential candidates; encouraging and monitoring the alignment of the regulations of the Republic of Serbia with the regulations and standards of the European Union and informing the European Union and the public about it, and all of the aforementioned falls within the areas of the following negotiation clusters: Fundamentals, Internal market, Competitiveness and inclusive growth, Green Agenda, and sustainable connectivity, Resources, agriculture and cohesion and External relations; assistance to ministries and special organisations in aligning regulations with European Union regulations; monitoring the fulfilment of obligations that ministries and special organisations have in association and accession to the European Union, participation in the coordination of Government bodies in charge of European integration, coordinating the preparation of draft acts in connection with the process of aligning domestic regulations with EU regulations; participation in processes related to the professional development of civil servants in the Department.
The Department also performs tasks related to the following: expert, analytical and administrative tasks of supporting the work of the Team for Support to Negotiations on the Republic of Serbia’s Accession to the European Union; coordination of expert needs and preparation of analyses for the Team for Support to Negotiations; promotion of the activities of the Team for Support to Negotiations, providing expert support to members of the Team for Support to Negotiations; participation in the processes related to professional training of civil servants in this area, as well as other jobs in this area.
For the purpose of performing the tasks falling within the scope of the Department for the Coordination of the Accession Process, Coordination of the Preparation and Implementation of the National Programme for the Adoption of the Acquis and Monitoring of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement the following smaller internal units are established:
1. Division for Political Criteria and Rule of Law;
2. Division for Economic Criteria and the National Programme for the Adoption of the Acquis;
3. Group for Transport and Energy and4. Group for Agriculture and Environmental Protection.
