J. Joksimović: Faster pace necessary for credibility of process

Serbian Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović has stated that Serbia’s composition of the delegation and presentation at the Intergovernmental Conference with the EU in Luxembourg will affirm the level of gravity and importance it attributes to the accession process and emphasise the fact that Serbia has already started fulfilling the conditions and criteria of the new methodology.

“This is an important conference and it is vital that at the highest political level we will be able not only to talk about what is expected of Serbia in terms of the implementation of reforms in certain areas, but also to present everything that we have done and how seriously we have taken everything, maybe even more seriously than some EU member states”, said Joksimović.

Joksimović has announced that, at the Intergovernmental Conference, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić will present Serbia’s progress in fundamental areas of the rule of law, while she will focus on crucial reform achievements Serbia has made in terms of other clusters, particularly clusters 3 and 4.

“The member states know this, but it is important to exchange opinions at a high political level and convey our message that we expect the new methodology to be accepted by all EU member states, and that it will start being applied, hopefully already by the end of the year, so that we would be able to say that the process has been unblocked”, said Joksimović.

She has stressed that, with the new methodology, Serbia’s accession process must move on to a more dynamic stage, concluding that without it the entire process will have no credibility.
