J. Joksimović: Enhanced political and economic relations of Serbia and Turkey

Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović welcomed today Turkish ambassador Tanju Bilgiç in his farewell visit. They discussed Serbia’s European integration process, as well as bilateral and regional cooperation.

Joksimović has thanked the Turkish diplomat for his dedicated engagement in our country and emphasised that political and economic relations of the two countries are at an exceptional level and they contribute significantly to strengthening stability in the Western Balkans, the Ministry announced.

The Minister has informed ambassador Bilgiç on current status of Serbia’s EU accession negotiations, notably about the reforms that are particularly important for the process.

“At this moment, the most important task of the Government of Serbia is to accelerate reforms aimed at reaching the standards set in the key EU policies. The most important reforms for us are those relating to the rule of law, as well as the reforms pertaining to the Green Deal, digitisation and sustainable growth of Serbian economy”, Joksimović has stressed.

She has stated that the results achieved so far in the reform process, notably with regard to the power of Serbian economy, health protection and digitisation, made it possible for our country to be among the most successful when it comes to population inoculation.

Ambassador Bilgiç has said that he is leaving Serbia satisfied with the high level of understanding and cooperation between the two countries.

He particularly noted the positive experiences of Turkish investors, as well as the results of local development projects supported by his country.

He has expressed his conviction that this type of development partnership is the best way to improve the lives of citizens in Serbia and in the entire region.
