J. Joksimović: Abolishing taxes - a clear condition for the continuation of the dialogue

Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović has said today that one should not think about who has greater influence on the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, but that it is important for everyone to urge Pristina to abolish the taxes in order for the dialogue to continue.

"It is important that everyone actively participates in this matter, and not just reflect on the question of whether the balance rests on the EU, which continues to mediate and facilitate the dialogue and on the role of the United States or some other interested parties," Joksimović has told reporters at the Government of the Republic of Serbia after signing two amendments to the Assistance Agreement between the United States and Serbia.

She has thus answered the question of whether the US will apply its authority to persuade Pristina to return to the negotiating table.

Joksimović has said that the Brussels Dialogue has, since the beginning, been led under the mediation of the EU, which is acting as a mediator and facilitator in the dialogue.

Unfortunately, as she has said, there has really been no progress after six years, which, as she has stressed, is clear to everyone not only when it comes to the formation of the CSM, but also as evidenced by the introduction of taxes that further undermine the atmosphere in every way, both economically and politically.

"The abolition of taxes is a clear condition for returning to the negotiating table," Joksimović has stressed.

She has said that one should not think about who has greater influence on the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, but that everyone should jointly, in synergy, appeal to Pristina in an efficient manner, which will result in the abolition of taxes that represent a violation of the SAA with the EU, as well as of the CEFTA Agreement, and that are very aggravating in the political sense.

"It is important that we all have a common goal to make these unreasonable measures be withdrawn, so that we may sit at the negotiating table, as President Aleksandar Vučić has repeatedly stressed - namely, that he is ready to continue the talks as soon as those conditions are achieved," Joksimović has said.
