J. Joksimović: We have invested all our efforts to prevent membership

All members of the Government have invested maximum effort to prevent Kosovo’s membership in Interpol and have explained multiple reasons why the admission of Kosovo into this international police organisation would send a very bad message.
“Minister Stefanović has worked hard, as we have all. We have all been explaining multiple reasons why we believe that Kosovo’s membership sends a very bad message and that it would also reflect poorly on the issue of regional relations”, Joksimović has said during her visit to the memorial room Kosmet victims where the photos of 2,500 Serbs, non-Albanians and Albanians murdered in Kosovo and Metohija are displayed.

Recalling that all members of the Government have invested all their efforts and used all their contacts to prevent Kosovo’s membership in Interpol, the Minister has stated that she does have to say that the situation is not easy because Pristina has the support of most of the countries that have recognised its independence.
“We must not be under the illusion that this will change overnight, but through responsible action and continuous informing of the international community and our western partners on the developments, I believe that we will change, and I am sure to some extent that we already have changed, the situation insomuch that our voice is heard and that the results we have achieved are acknowledged”, said the Minister.

Interpol General Assembly is currently being held in Dubai, where Kosovo’s membership in this international police organisation will be on tomorrow’s agenda.
