Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović met today with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Serbia, Anke Holstein, with whom he discussed Serbia’s accession process to the European Union, the implementation of reforms, and opportunities for further enhancement of sscooperation between Serbia and Germany in areas of significance for the European integration of our country.
Starović extended a warm welcome to the Ambassador the Ambassador and wished her a successful term of office in the Republic of Serbia, stressing the importance of maintaining continuous dialogue with Germany, as one of the most important Member States of the European Union and a significant partner of Serbia in the EU accession process. The Minister emphasised that Serbia is committed to open and substantive dialogue with Germany on reforms and the accession process, while expecting Germany to continue supporting concrete reform results and Serbia’s progress towards membership in the European Union.
The Minister presented Serbia’s current progress in fulfilling its obligations arising from the negotiating process and from the Reform Agenda of our country, stressing that Serbia is committed to accelerating the reform process and further aligning its domestic legislation with the European Union acquis.
Particular attention during the meeting was devoted to opportunities for further German support for the process of modernising Serbia, particularly through technical and development assistance in the areas of the rule of law, environmental protection, sustainable development, as well as assistance in strengthening the institutional capacities of the Serbian public administration.
In particular, Minister Starović informed Ambassador Holstein about the activities undertaken by the provisional self-government institutions in Kosovo and Metohija against the Serbian and other non-Albanian population.
