Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović met in Madrid with Fernando Sampedro, Secretary of State for the European Union at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain.
Minister Starović thanked Secretary of State Sampedro for the continuous support that Spain provides to Serbia on its path towards EU membership. During the conversation, the importance of opening of Cluster 3 in the negotiation process was particularly emphasised, in order to valorise the outcomes of the reform processes implemented in Serbia, but also to confirm the credibility of the EU enlargement process based on the merits of the candidates. The Secretary of State Sampedro emphasised that the Kingdom of Spain remains firmly committed to respecting the territorial integrity of internationally recognised states and, accordingly, regards Kosovo and Metohija exclusively as part of the Republic of Serbia.
