Today, Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the European Union held the second meeting of the Reform and Growth Facility Monitoring Committee, established under the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, to oversee the implementation of the Reform Agenda of the Republic of Serbia.
Building on the progress achieved since the Committee’s first meeting, participants reviewed the overall implementation of the Facility and the Reform Agenda, including progress across all priority public policy areas. Discussions focused on reforms in the areas of the business environment and private sector development, energy and the green transition, digital transformation, human capital, and fundamental values, including the rule of law and fundamental rights.
The Committee also reviewed the Annual Report on the Reform and Growth Facility and was informed by the European Commission about the ongoing assessment process. In this context, the discussions confirmed the continuation of the structured dialogue between Serbian institutions and the European Commission on the implementation of reform objectives and the fulfilment of reform steps envisaged under the Facility. Participants examined the functioning of internal coordination and monitoring structures, highlighting the significance of effective inter-institutional coordination, timely reporting, and robust reform implementation mechanisms.
The role of the Committee as a key platform for the joint monitoring of the implementation of the Reform Agenda was also confirmed, providing transparency and bringing together Serbian institutions, the European Commission, civil society organisations, EU Member States, international financial institutions and other key stakeholders for a structured exchange of views on the progress achieved. In this context, civil society representatives actively participated in the discussions. The exchange of views underscored the importance of transparency, accountability, and continuous communication with citizens regarding the tangible benefits and progress delivered by the reforms.
The second meeting of the Monitoring Committee confirmed the commitment of all stakeholders to accelerating the implementation of reforms, further strengthening coordination and transparency, and ensuring the effective achievement of reform objectives.
