We are pleased to announce that five projects have officially entered the implementation phase within the Interreg IPA Romania–Serbia Programme 2021–2027.
These projects, which are funded under the second call for submission of project proposals, are starting to turn the vision of a sustainable, energy-efficient cross-border region into reality.
With total investments exceeding EUR 18 million, the projects address climate challenges through innovation, cooperation and practical action on the ground. The areas covered are energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, smart infrastructure, education and environmental protection.
These projects are the following:
1. GreenPublicBuildings #RORS00339
The partners are upgrading public infrastructure by implementing advanced thermal insulation and smart energy monitoring systems.
2. SMART BORDERS #RORS00340
Nine border crossing points are being modernised in order to reduce environmental impact while improving operational efficiency.
3. C-RENEW #RORS00342
A cross-border education network is being developed, featuring VR labs and pilot plants to train the next generations in the fields of renewable energy sources and electric vehicle technologies.
4. REVALOR #RORS00343
A closed landfill in Balint will be transformed into a solar energy hub, while the waste treatment system in Pančevo will be upgraded in order to significantly reduce methane emissions.
5. Eco-Administration #RORS00344
A “Climate-Smart” governance model is being developed in Giroc, Gottlob and Veliko Gradište, spanning heritage preservation, digital water monitoring, and smart local governance.
Our shared goals are:
• Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
• Promoting renewable energy sources (solar, wind and geothermal energy)
• Improving the energy efficiency in public buildings and border infrastructure
• Strengthening regional education and smart governance
