Call for Applications Open for “Youth4Regions” Programme for Young Journalists and Journalism Students

The European Commission has opened applications for the “Youth4Regions” programme, aimed at journalism students and young journalists interested in learning more about projects funded by the European Union in regions through Cohesion Policy and the European Solidarity Fund (EUSF).

The competition invites young journalists to submit original works on EU co-funded projects in the form of articles, photographs, video, or audio reports.

Selected participants will have the opportunity to report from the EU Regions’ Week in Brussels, where they will work alongside renowned journalists from across Europe. The European Commission will cover travel, accommodation, and meal expenses during the programme.

The programme also includes training sessions on journalism and EU Cohesion Policy, mentorship and networking opportunities with experienced journalists, as well as study visits to media outlets and EU institutions. Participants will also have the opportunity to be shortlisted for the “Megalizzi-Niedzielski” Prize, as well as the chance to become “Cohesion Correspondents 2027” and take part in a fully funded two-week reporting mission on EU policies.

The call is open to citizens of EU Member States and neighbouring EU countries aged 18 to 30 at the time of the programme, who demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a journalistic career through studies, work, or volunteering experience. Applicants may have a maximum of three years of full-time work experience after graduation.

The programme will take place from 10 to 16 October 2026.
