A conference dedicated to corporate social responsibility “CSR Serbia” was opened today at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia in Belgrade, at which Special Advisor to the Minister of European Integration Danilo Golubović said that Serbia, through the reform process and accession to the European Union within Cluster 4, Green Agenda and Sustainable Connectivity, was improving standards in the areas of social policy, labour rights, environmental protection and sustainable development.
“We are simultaneously working to create an enabling environment for green investments, the circular economy and responsible business operations of small and medium-sized enterprises,” Golubović emphasised at the opening of the conference.
The Advisor to the Minister emphasised that Serbia’s European integration was not just a process of harmonising regulations, but rather a profound transformation of the society towards greater respect for human rights, better working conditions, greater social security, a greener economy, and stronger trust between the state, economy, and citizens.
“That is why it is important that social responsibility doesn't just remain a topic for large companies. It must become a shared principle of action for institutions, local self-governments, the education system, the civil sector, and every responsible economic operator,” Golubović said.
He stressed that it was particularly important that the established standards were now directly linked to the single European market, investments, and competitiveness.
According to him, companies that invested in employees, occupational safety, inclusion, environmental protection, and responsible management were in fact investing in their own future.
“Today’s conference is important precisely because it brings together all key stakeholders: the state, the economy, international partners, and civil society, with the common goal of turning partnership into concrete social impact. I believe that the discussions that await us at this gathering will bring forth new ideas, new partnerships and initiatives that will contribute to making Serbia a more modern, sustainable and just society,” Golubović emphasised.
