Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović signed today in Belgrade, together with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of Hungary on expert assistance in the negotiations on Serbia’s European Union accession. The signing of this document was one of the activities within the 15th session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between the two countries, held today at the Palace of Serbia.
The two ministers assessed that the Memorandum confirmed Hungary’s strong support for Serbia’s European path and further strengthened cooperation in the field of European integration. As stated, Hungary will continue to provide Serbia with expert assistance through knowledge exchange, training, and support in aligning with the EU acquis. As a Member State of the European Union with significant experience in the accession process and in the use of European funds, Hungary will also provide Serbia with technical assistance in key negotiating chapters.
Ministers Starović and Szijjártó emphasised that Serbia’s European integration represented a strategic priority, that the country’s progress in that process contributed to the stability and prosperity of the region, and that the two countries would continue intensive political dialogue and practical cooperation in order to further accelerate Serbia’s accession process.
