Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović received today, on a farewell visit, Special Envoy of the Government of Slovenia for the Western Balkans Anžej Frangeš.
Starović and Frangeš discussed the current dynamics of Serbia’s European Union accession process, regional stability, bilateral cooperation between the two countries, and global issues.
Minister Starović reiterated Serbia’s firm commitment to continuing the implementation of reforms, particularly in the areas of the rule of law and economic development, stressing that full EU membership remained Serbia’s strategic priority.
In the context of reforms, the Minister highlighted the importance of the Reform Agenda, i.e. the European Union Growth Plan for the Western Balkans. According to him, Serbia was successfully meeting the reform objectives that enabled the use of funds from the Growth Plan, which indicated an active commitment to fulfilling its obligations. For Serbia, as the largest and most important country in the region, the Reform Agenda represents the most significant instrument for the entire region’s economic progress and for bringing Serbia closer to the EU Single Market.
On this occasion, the Minister thanked Slovenia for its continuous support to Serbia in the European integration process, both politically and through expert assistance.
Frangeš reiterated his country’s position that Slovenia remained an advocate of Serbia’s rapid progress towards European Union membership.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Starović wished Frangeš success in his new role as Slovenia’s Ambassador to Hungary.
