On 9 December, consultations on development cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany were held in Belgrade. The talks focused on Germany’s support for Serbia’s European perspective and on cooperation in key areas, with the aim of improving citizens’ quality of life.
The consultations are held every two years and provide a platform for open exchanges at a working level between the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Ministry of European Integration of the Republic of Serbia, as well as all other ministries with which Germany has cooperation projects.
This year’s discussions focused on current challenges and progress in development cooperation, as well as on concrete measures to further support Serbia on its path towards sustainable development. The talks centred on key topics of climate and energy, sustainable private sector development, professional training, good governance, and social inclusion. Reform steps in these areas and the ongoing implementation of projects were also considered, in order to ensure that the support is carried out efficiently and effectively. Regional cooperation and Serbia’s participation in the relevant projects were also discussed.
The interlocutors particularly highlighted the good bilateral relations between Germany and Serbia, the positive results of 25 years of successful development cooperation, and the shared interest in a stable and prosperous future for the region.
