Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović met today in Belgrade with a delegation of the Italian Parliament led by Alessandro Giglio Vigna, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee for EU Policy, with whom he discussed Serbia’s accession to the European Union, regional cooperation, and bilateral relations between the two countries.
Minister Starović thanked Italy for its strong support on our country’s path towards European Union membership, and especially for its development and expert assistance in the reform processes. “Italy is one of Serbia’s most important partners, both bilaterally and through regional initiatives, as well as due to its principled support for the EU’s enlargement policy. We greatly value this assistance, making use of it to accelerate reforms in our country that will bring benefits to the citizens and the economy of Serbia even during the accession process,” the Minister said.
Italian parliamentarian Alessandro Giglio Vigna stated that Italy, as one of the founding states of the European Union, advocated for the Union’s enlargement policy and helped Serbia and the entire region reach, as soon as possible, the standards necessary for membership. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation between the parliaments of Italy and Serbia in the European integration process, as key democratic institutions.
