Starović and Ciriani: Italy’s Support for Serbia’s European Path

Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović met today in Belgrade with Italian Minister for Relations with Parliament Luca Ciriani and discussed the ways to further enhance relations between the two countries in areas of significance for Serbia’s accession to the European Union.

Minister Nemanja Starović expressed gratitude to the Government of the Italian Republic for its continuous support for Serbia’s European path, which, in addition to political backing, also includes substantial development assistance. “Strategic commitment of the Republic of Serbia is full membership in the European Union, while technical and expert support provided by Italy is of exceptional importance for accelerating the reforms leading to that goal”, Minister Starović stated and added that the 2025 EC Report for Serbia served as a roadmap for achieving faster progress in that direction.

The interlocutors agreed to continue joint work on projects contributing to Serbia’s European perspective and on strengthening political and economic bilateral relations between the two countries. As stated, these efforts contribute to the stability and development of the entire Western Balkans region, and to more successful implementation of the European Union’s enlargement policy.
