On the occasion of Interreg Cooperation Day, the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences in Osijek, in cooperation with the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, organised an event aimed at students, highlighting 35 years of the Interreg programme, the long-standing cooperation of the Interreg IPA Programme Croatia–Serbia, as well as the strategic project ADAPTvitis.
Introductory addresses were delivered by Prof. Dr Tomislav Vinković, Dean of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences, Marina Škunca, Head of the Service for Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of Cooperation Programmes at the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, and Mihajilo Dašić, Advisor at the Cabinet of the Minister of European Integration of the Republic of Serbia.
The speakers particularly emphasised the importance of the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Croatia–Serbia, which supports projects in an area with approximately 2.1 million inhabitants. This programme fosters development in key sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, social services, entrepreneurship, culture, tourism, and the green transition. Numerous successful projects have already improved the quality of life of citizens in Croatia and Serbia.
The keynote lecture was delivered by Davor Skočibušić, Head of the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg IPA Croatia–Serbia Programme. He presented the framework of European territorial cooperation, emphasising the importance of the Interreg initiative, which is marking its 35th anniversary this year. He underlined the key role of Interreg in strengthening cooperation between EU Member States and those aspiring to EU membership.
After that, Toni Kujundžić, Vice-Dean for the Development of Experimental Fields and Technology Transfer at the Faculty and Head of the ADAPTvitis project, presented this strategic project. The project promotes the development of new technologies for climate-resilient viticulture, helping vineyards adapt to the challenges of climate change.
