The Steering Committee of the EU INTEGRA Programme approved the first call for project proposals worth over EUR 4.7 million, as well as a call for technical assistance for the development of new territorial development strategies.
At the meeting of the Steering Committee of the EU INTEGRA programme, which is implemented with the support of the European Union, a public call for project proposals from cities and municipalities with a total value of over EUR 4.7 million was approved. These projects will contribute to the implementation of 12 territorial strategies, developed with the support of the EU PRO Plus programme – aiming to foster sustainable and integrated development of urban and functional areas across Serbia.
In addition, a decision was made to publish a call for project proposals to develop new territorial strategies. The aim of these strategies is to identify key territorial, economic and social potentials for the development of urban and functional areas and improve the management of local resources.
Public calls will be announced in early July, which will be accompanied by workshops and information sessions with the aim of making it easier for local governments as project proposers to prepare and submit applications.
“The activities of the Ministry of European Integration aim to strengthen the capacities of local governments in the preparation and implementation of territorial strategies based on local economic and social potentials and specificities. These strategies provide the basis for identifying priority development projects and enable more efficient use of available financial resources, including EU grants. In line with the EU rules, the development of territorial strategies is a prerequisite and an important step towards a more efficient use of EU development funds within the framework of the EU cohesion policy,” said Mira Radenović Bojić, State Secretary at the Ministry of European Integration.
We would like to remind you that, at the proposal of the Ministry of European Integration, the European Commission approved EUR 15 million in grant aid from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance for the implementation of the program called EU INTEGRA, which is managed by the Standing Conference of Cities and Municipalities (SCMC) and the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
