City of Leskovac Awarded for Good Practice under the URBACT Programme

The URBACT Programme Monitoring Committee awarded the City of Leskovac for good practice on 29 October in Veszprém (Hungary) as part of the good practices call (open from 15 April to 30 June 2024). The City of Leskovac received the URBACT Good Practice label, joining the ranks of 116 cities across Europe (selected from 249 submitted applications), as announced today by the Ministry of European Integration, which serves as the national coordinator of the URBACT Programme.

The URBACT programme selected local practices with a positive community impact that are participatory, integrated, relevant at the European level, and transferable to other European cities. The City of Leskovac was recognised for its collaborative preparation of a sustainable urban development strategy supported by the EU PRO PLUS Programme.

The URBACT call for good practices was open to cities from the 27 EU Member States, partner countries (Norway, Switzerland), and EU Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance beneficiary countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia), as well as Ukraine and Moldova.

This call aims to provide visibility to influential local practices in sustainable urban development and offer inspiration and the opportunity to transfer good practice to other European cities.

Cities awarded the URBACT good practice label will benefit from various promotional activities in terms of visibility within the framework of the URBACT City Festival from 8 to 10 April 2025 in Wrocław (Poland), one of the most significant events of the programme.

The selected cities will also be able to apply for the 2025 call to lead a URBACT Network for transferring good practice with programme support.
