Minister of European Integration Tanja Miščević met today with Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the German Bundestag Michael Roth and on that occasion she informed him about the reforms that Serbia is implementing in the EU accession process.
Miščević expressed her expectation that in the coming period, Serbia will open cluster three in EU membership negotiations, which is related to competitiveness and inclusive growth.
According to the announcement, the reforms in the area of the rule of law, implementation of the judicial reform, implementation of the media strategy, work on the fight against corruption and improvement of respect for human rights were particularly discussed.
Michael Roth emphasised the importance of the process of normalising relations between Belgrade and Priština for the continuation of Serbia’s European path, and he also emphasised the importance of aligning with the EU’s foreign and security policy, as an indicator of European solidarity in difficult times for our continent.
He also pointed out the necessity of structural reforms in strategically important sectors such as energy and energy infrastructure, stressing that they contribute to stability and progress.
The interlocutors agreed on the importance of communicating European values and standards, partnership and EU assistance in Serbia’s European integration process.
As said, this is not only an explanation of the current negotiation process, but also an important element of EU membership preparations.
