Adoption of the Three-Year National Programme for the Adoption of the Acquis (NPAA) 2024–2027

At today’s government session, a new three-year National Programme for the Adoption of the Acquis (NPAA) was adopted, covering the period from the third quarter of 2024 to the fourth quarter of 2027.  The programme’s preparation involved competent ministries, special government organisations and agencies, and other institutions that are part of the coordination system for the Republic of Serbia’s European Union accession negotiation process.

The NPAA 2024–2027 includes plans for aligning legislation with the EU acquis and establishing the necessary institutional and administrative capacities to implement the aligned legislation. These plans are presented according to negotiation chapters and grouped into six thematic areas in line with the clusters defined by the European Union accession methodology. In planning, attention was given to the development of EU legislation since the previous NPAA was adopted, and the implementation period of the new NPAA has been adjusted to other reform processes, planned, among others, by the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans and the Reform Agenda of the Republic of Serbia.

The implementation of the NPAA, in relations with the EU, represents one of the significant elements for monitoring the progress of the Republic of Serbia’s European Union accession process, particularly given the central role that aligning legislation with the EU acquis plays in this process.

The Ministry of European Integration is responsible for preparing quarterly reports on NPAA implementation, which it submits to the Government for review and decision-making and to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia for information.
