Competition for the best student papers on the EU for 2023 announced

The Ministry of European Integration of the Republic of Serbia is announcing a competition for the best individual student papers on Serbia’s European integration and EU accession process.
The aim of this competition is to directly involve young academic citizens in an open argumentative debate on important aspects of the accession process and membership of the Republic of Serbia in the European Union.

The papers should answer one of the following six questions:

1. Results of the new methodology for the accession negotiations after four years since the French initiative for the Western Balkans.

2. France and Serbia: from allied history to partnership with the EU.

3. Euroscepticism, disinformation and digital literacy: the causes and the consequences of Euroscepticism on Serbia’s EU accession process, how does misinformation in the era of digital media influence the formation of the perception that Serbian citizens have about the EU, the mechanisms of the formation of Euroscepticism, how to overcome it?

4. Impact of the cross-border carbon adjustment mechanism on economic actors from the Western Balkans.

5. Rule of law and European integration of Serbia: EU mechanisms for improving the rule of law in Serbia, benefits for Serbian citizens from this process?

6. Challenges and perspectives of the European economic integration of Serbia.

The committee of experts composed of professors from the University of Belgrade will assess the quality of submitted papers, while the authors of the three top-ranked papers will receive prizes worth RSD 110,000, RSD 80,000, and RSD 60,000, respectively. In addition to the three top-ranked papers, the Ministry will publish other papers that meet the competition criteria in its electronic collection.

The competition is open for students enrolled in basic academic and master study programmes at all universities in the Republic of Serbia.

The deadline for the submission of papers is 30 June 2023.
