Joksimović and Brnabić hosted a reception for the ambassadors of the EU member states

Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović and Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabić have hosted a reception for the ambassadors of the EU member states today, on the occasion of the opening of Cluster 4, related to the Green Agenda, in Serbia’s negotiations with the EU.

Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović has thanked the new negotiation coordinating structure, Prime Minister’s team, the associates and all cluster coordinators from respective ministries.

“You have worked hard, and it has paid off”, Joksimović has stated.
Brnabić has emphasised that she will remember 2021 by the most significant achievements Serbia has made in the rule of law and expressed her appreciation that by the opening of Cluster 4, the EU has rewarded all the efforts Serbia has invested in the EU integration process.

She has mentioned that the Government she leads worked hard, taking care of all the details in the reforms, thereby achieving concrete results.

“This is an enormous motivation for us, wind to our back to keep up the work not only with the same enthusiasm but also by intensifying our efforts and working better and harder to achieve greater results in 2022, open clusters and chapters”, Brnabić has said.

The Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, has said that after the opening of Cluster 4, the EU eagerly awaits Serbia’s further reform progress, particularly in the judiciary, adding that he expects the referendum scheduled for 16 January to pave the reform path further making the judicial system independent and more efficient.

Giaufret has pointed out that reforms can make the judicial system independent and more efficient, emphasising that all citizens and the business sector will benefit from it, particularly in attracting investments.

“We love Serbia, and we want it to become a part of our family. Being aware of its beauty, strengths and potentials, and we will work together to face challenges and dangers”, Giaufret has said, emphasising that the EU wants to work along Serbia to create solutions bringing prosperity to future generations.

Giaufret has thanked Prime Minister and Minister Joksimović, and others who have worked hard in the EU integration process, underlining that the opening of Cluster 4 with four chapters represents a good reason for celebration on top of upcoming holidays.

“As you know, negotiations and progress towards the EU depend on what is completed and realised. The EU member states have recognised the efforts in the area of the rule of law and other aspects. We share your optimism, as the opening of Cluster 4 provides an incentive to Serbia’s European path”, the ambassador has said.

He has emphasised that the opening of Cluster 4 also ensures a new framework for cooperation between Serbia and the EU in environmental protection, which is good news for the citizens, as well as business aspects and job creation.
