J. Joksimović: The rudest abuse of media freedom used for lynch threats

The NIN front page is a direct invitation to lynching and violence and there is no dilemma in this regard. The image in this case is hate speech. I suppose this is the lack of media freedom in Serbia that so many representatives of the media, the opposition and the non-government sector so fervently and critically complain about to the European Union, stated Serbian Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović.

She has emphasized that “what is really lacking is the responsibility and rectitude of certain media and certain journalists, while NIN most rudely abused the freedom of the media that truly exists in Serbia in order to spread hatred and make lynch threats”.

“I expect journalist associations to react sharply, and that the competent authorities act in accordance with the law”, Joksimović concluded in her press release.
