Minister of European Integration of the Republic of Serbia Nemanja Starović met today with Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Family of the Republic of Austria Claudia Plakolm, who is on an official visit to Serbia.
Today’s talks represent a continuation of previous discussions between the two ministers on ways to deepen partnership in areas of mutual interest.
Minister Starović expressed his gratitude to Austria for its continuous and strong support for Serbia’s European integration process. He emphasised that the support was reflected not only through political engagement but also through concrete financial and technical assistance that Austria had provided to Serbia. He especially thanked Austria for the EUR 23 million that its government had allocated through development and reform projects aimed at strengthening institutional capacities and improving the European Union accession process.
Minister Plakolm underlined that Austria remained a firm and consistent advocate of Serbia’s European perspective and of the entire Western Balkans. She thanked Serbia for its active cooperation within the trilateral initiative of Hungary, Austria, and Serbia, focused on more effective prevention of illegal migration, stressing that the cooperation was crucial for the security and stability of the entire region.
Minister Starović expressed his appreciation for the support and emphasised that Serbia highly valued its partnership with Austria – not only in the area of European integration but also in economic and security matters.
Both ministers reaffirmed their readiness to continue intensive cooperation and joint efforts on projects that contributed to bringing Serbia closer to the European Union and to strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.
