Third meeting of the Enhanced Permanent Dialogue

Belgrade, 11July 2007– The third sectoral meeting of the Enhanced Permanent Dialogue between Serbian Government and the European Commission was held in Belgrade, covering the issues of reforms in industry, customs and taxation.

The experts from ministries of economy and regional development, trade and services, finances and other relevant institutions presented the activities of the Government relating to implementation of European Partnership priorities in the field of standardization, metrology, accreditation and market surveillance, as well as harmonization of domestic regulations with relevant parts of the EU acquis.

In the field of industrial policy, the topics discussed included the development of small and medium enterprises and tourism in Serbia. The issues covered also involved trade – ratification and enforcement of CEFTA agreement, development of administrative capacities in the field, trade statistics and definition of future priorities in the area.

Implementation of customs and tax legislation was reviewed as well, primarily relating to the value added tax, excise duties and direct taxation.
