J. Joksimović: Important meeting between Vučić and Várhelyi

Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović has stated that today’s meeting between President Aleksandar Vučić and EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi is important “to additionally learn about the current status of the enlargement policy, as well as about important instruments for the large economic and investment plan of incentives for the Western Balkans, which should be presented in early October.”

According to the Minister, the investment plan will contain additional incentives for tackling the economic effects of the pandemic.

“Certainly, bearing in mind announcements that the new Government will additionally strengthen the reform agenda in all segments and ministries, within the European integration process, and that this reform will be even more thoroughly scrutinised within the new EU accession methodology, it is important that President Vučić and Commissioner Várhelyi had a timely discussion on all these new aspects and directions of European integration,” stressed Joksimović.

According to the Ministry of European Integration, Joksimović has added that she believes that the regular Progress Report, which is made for every country in the accession process, will be an important instrument based on which Serbia will be able to open new chapters by the end of the year, expressing her expectation that the European Commission will have developed a roadmap for the application of the new methodology by that time.

“We are working very actively, there are no idle moments in our reforms in various areas, and I believe that a dynamic period awaits us in the European integration process, both at home and regarding the intensification of the accession process,” emphasised Joksimović.
