Belgrade, 25 November 2004– Serbian Government has adopted the Report on the State Aid Catalogue in the Republicof Serbia. The report gives the data on the funds paid out to the economic entities from the budget of the Republicof Serbiaor the local government budget and the relief and exemptions data in 2003 and 2004. According to the report, 68,879 million Dinars and 54,274 million Dinars were earmarked in 2003 and 2004 respectively, for all types of state aid.

Since the European Union Council of Ministers’ Decision on European Partnership entered force (14.06.2004), Serbia’s progress in the European integration has been evaluated by the progress made in meeting the priorities contained in the European Partnership. A recommendation that needs to be met is to build a transparent sate aid system, as the first step towards setting up control in this area.

Building a transparent state aid system will positively influence competition protection, economic policy creation, rational planning of state budget and managing budget deficit. It will also add to a more efficient cooperation with international organisations, above all in realising financial arrangements and creating industrial and regional development policies.
