Department for Political and Economic Criteria in the Process of Accession to the European Union

The Department for Political and Economic Criteria in the Process of Accession to the European Union performs tasks related to the following: co-ordination, monitoring and reporting related to the process of accession to the European Union; coordination of the preparation of strategic documents related to the process of accession to the European Union, including the National Programme for the Adoption of the Acquis Communautaire; coordination of the preparation and implementation of the National Programme for the Adoption of the Acquis Communautaire; coordination of the implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement and the work of joint bodies established by the agreement; coordination of cooperation of state administration bodies with the European Commission and other expert bodies of the European Union, as well as cooperation in the process of association and accession with institutions of the European Union, member states, candidate and potential candidate countries; encouraging and monitoring the alignment of legislation of the Republic of Serbia with legislation and standards of the European Union and informing the European Union and the public thereof, all in the areas covered by the groups of related chapters under the new EU accession negotiation methodology, i.e. in the areas of judiciary and fundamental rights, foreign, security and defence policy, justice, freedom and security, intellectual property, movement of goods, movement of workers, right of establishment and freedom to provide services, free movement of capital, public procurement, company law, competition and state aid, financial services, information society and media, taxation, statistics, social policy and employment, entrepreneurship and industrial policy, science and research, education and culture, consumer protection and health protection, customs union, external economic relations, financial supervision, financial and budget affairs; assistance to ministries and special organisations in aligning regulations with EU regulations; monitoring the fulfilment of obligations that ministries and special organisations have in association with and accession to the European Union, participation in the coordination of Government bodies in charge of European integration, coordinating the preparation of draft acts in connection with the process of alignment of domestic legislation with EU legislation. 
For the purpose of performing the tasks falling within the scope of the Department for Political and Economic Criteria in the Process of Accession to the European Union, the following are established:

1. Division for Political Criteria and Rule of Law;
2. Division for Economic Criteria and Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA).
