J. Joksimović and Szijjártó: Clear support of neighbours on the European path means a lot to us

Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović has talked in Subotica with Hungarian Minster of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó.

She has informed her interlocutor about Serbia’s activities in the reform process and about chapters that have been prepared.

The Minister has expressed her gratitude for Hungary’s clear and vocal principled support to Serbia’s European integration, emphasising that, in the time when various messages are coming from certain EU countries, Serbia appreciates all support, particularly from its neighbours.

Joksimović and Szijjártó have signed the Renewed Agreement on support to European integration that will define cooperation regarding Serbia’s preparation for transferring to the cohesion policy, which gave Hungary access to large funds when it became an EU member. Owing to these funds, in a few years, Hungary will reach the average of European development, which is an experience Serbia wants to use for its development on the European path.

Furthermore, the two countries will also work together on coordinating cross-border cooperation projects, where funds are provided from the European funds, contributing to the progress and development of border municipalities.
