J. Joksimović: EU understands that Serbia sees the world through development, cooperation, reforms and dialogue

“What was Serbia’s message in Brussels and what the EU understood well is that we apparently see the world differently”, said Serbian Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović.

“Serbia sees the world through cooperation, agreements, dialogue, reforms and progress. Some apparently are not yet capable of that, and we have urged the EU to help them to realise that they should be part of the solution, not constantly part of the problem. We will see what the reaction will be. Serbia is doing its job - we are fully committed to Serbia’s development and progress, as well as to an active, diplomatic agenda through which we primarily promote our own interests”, stated Minister Joksimović.
“Today’s Stabilisation and Association Council meeting chaired by High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini is the most important contractual relationship Serbia has with the EU, based on which political and economic criteria are monitored, as well as the adoption of the acquis and alignment with European standards”, explained the Minister in her statement.

“That is - all the important aspects of Serbia’s reform process. In that sense, at each meeting of this kind, we address all the most important political and economic criteria and introduction of standards in various areas. I think that this meeting has shown that Serbia - and this was also noted at the end of the meeting - that Serbia is truly, to the largest extent and without much difficulty and without serious outstanding issues, implementing the Stabilisation and Association Agreement in the best way possible, which actually proves that Serbia is a serious candidate for EU membership, which I believe was also best confirmed by Ms. Mogherini’s words at the conference with the Prime Minister”, said Minister Joksimović.
