Seventh Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region in Sofia

This year’s Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region is held on 18 and 19 October 2018 in Sofia, and is organised by the Republic of Bulgaria, as the Presidency of the Danube Strategy, and the European Commission. The Forum was opened by Corina Crețu, European Commissioner for Regional Policy, and Petya Avramova, Minister of Regional Development of the Republic of Bulgaria. Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, also addressed the participants.

The Forum gathers more than 600 institutions from the region with the aim to analyse previous results and consider new opportunities to respond, through cooperation, to new challenges the Danube Region is facing, such as security, mobility and preservation of cultural and natural heritage. The Forum particularly deals with sustainable tourism development, gathering ministers of tourism from Danube countries, who expressed their readiness to strengthen cooperation in this area by signing a joint declaration.
