J. Joksimović addresses the opposition: Your politics has failed

“Instead of the opposition asking the European Union and Federica Mogherini how it is possible that the Community of Serb Municipalities in KiM has not yet been established, letters are being sent from Serbia asking Mogherini to preserve the territorial integrity and multiethnicity of Kosovo”, Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović has said today.

The Minister has joined a debate in the Assembly raised by MP Miroslav Aleksić’s question on "why, how and which Government has failed", stressing that the opposition is the one that has failed, because, as she has noted, there is no unified national interest in Serbia regarding KiM.

"If you are already asking why, how and which politics has failed, I think you should really ask how it is possible that the CSM has not yet been established in spite of the promises given on 4th of August; instead, the letters asking Mogherini to preserve the territorial integrity and multiethnicity of KiM are being sent from Serbia", Joksimović has said in the Assembly, answering the questions of the MPs.

She has said that the proposal of a solution for KiM is, unfortunately, failing due to non-existent internal support, because there is no national unity on this important state issue, and has stated that those who do not support Aleksandar Vučić and the current Government are actually agreeing with the attitude of the Kosovo Albanians.

"They are not willing to talk about anything, be it demarcation or the CSM. It represents a downfall, since there is no national unity on the ideas that can be feasible and achievable; yet, for the sake of scoring political points, they are destroying the possibility that has been opened through arduous and long-term diplomatic action and wise politics of this Government and Vučić," Joksimović has pointed out.

She has told the opposition that their politics has failed because it was not ready to support a "rational, wise and feasible solution", but rather sides with those who are against such a solution only because they are against Vučić and the Government.

The Minister has noted that the Government and the opposition may disagree on internal and foreign policy issues, but has also told the opposition that, if there is no public national unity regarding KiM at the moment when this important issue is being negotiated on, this will result in failure.
