J. Joksimović and Schaer: Serbia and Estonia have become better acquainted, the potential of cooperation is great

Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović has received today in a farewell visit the outgoing Ambassador of Estonia, Daniel Schaer. They have discussed the process of Serbia’s European integration, reforms, the situation in the region and other issues.

Jadranka Joksimović has expressed her gratitude for the assistance and support Estonia has provided to Serbia in the accession process. She has pointed out that Serbia has opened 14 chapters so far - two of which have been provisionally closed, and that there is hope to open several others for which Serbia is prepared at the technical level during Austria’s EU Council presidency.

Joksimović has informed Ambassador Schaer of the progress achieved within Chapter 23 - the rule of law, the adoption of recommendations made by the Venice Commission on constitutional amendments and the set of crucial laws under Chapter 23 that are in preparation.

Minister Joksimović and Daniel Schaer have specified that cooperation in the region is a precondition for development and progress. They have also emphasised that the stability of the region reflects on the stability of Europe.

Ambassador Schaer has said that Estonia will continue to support Serbia's European integration and will try to contribute to the affirmation of the country's accession process. He has assessed that the results of the reforms confirm the European perspective of Serbia that has proven to be an important factor for the stability of the region and Europe, as well as a reliable EU partner.

Jadranka Joksimović wished Daniel Schaer success in his future work and thanked him for the cooperation achieved thus far.
