J. Joksimović: Luxembourg’s support to Serbia’s progress

Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović has met in Luxembourg today with this country’s head of diplomacy Jean Asselborn, who has on the occasion extended support to Serbia for the acceleration of the EU accession process, stating that Serbia is the key to the region’s stability, Joksimović has conveyed.
“The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg has shown that he is a true friend of enlargement , very well acquainted with the circumstances in the region and a friend of Serbia”, said Joksimović.

Minister Joksimović and the head of Luxembourg’s diplomacy have discussed the reforms in Serbia, the progress in the rule of law, economic stability in the country and the situation in the region. “Luxembourg, as all other countries, is following the developments in the region, they are substantively interested in the stability of the region and believe that Serbia is the key country that, with its strength, responsibility and capacities, is the anchor of stability in the region”, said Joksimović.

Acknowledging this position, Joksimović has emphasised in her talks with Asselborn that the partnership of all other countries in the region is also important and that Serbia cannot produce stability alone, if there is no response from the other side.
“I have also stressed the important role the EU has in this process, and that it must be not only more deeply, but also sometimes more objectively involved in the entire process”, underlined Joksimović.

She has said that she asked for and received the support of Luxembourg for the acceleration of the EU accession process.
“We have Luxembourg’s support. Given all the reforms we will implement in the meantime, I have asked for their support for the opening of all chapters we are prepared for by the end of the year, and we have generally received that support”, said Joksimović.

She has underlined that both Minister Asselborn and Luxembourg have always been very positive about Serbia and the further accession process.
