J. Joksimović: EU must engage even more actively and responsibly

The Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović has said today that Serbia is undeniably and sincerely committed to peace and dialogue, but that the other side is not, which is why the EU must engage in an even more active and responsible manner.

Asked by Tanjug to comment on the yesterday’s arrival of Federica Mogherini in Belgrade, Joksimović emphasised that the EU must clearly demonstrate that it is able to see things as they really are and to act accordingly.
”It was urgent for Federica Mogherini to get involved, as the EU high representative for foreign policy and security who is responsible and competent for facilitating and mediating the dialogue, in addition to all efforts employed by Aleksandar Vučić to fill the dialogue by building consensus and by holding sessions within the internal dialogue, one of which has been brutally undermined by the targeted arrest of Marko Đurić as a man who represents Serbian negotiation team,” Joksimović has said.

The Minister has underlined that the capacity of Kosovo forces for violence clearly tremendously exceeds their capacity for dialogue, agreement and consensus.
“Kosovo has shown how easy it is for them to shatter agreements and dialogue, but the problem is that after something has been shattered, it is difficult to rebuild it”, Joksimović has said, adding that this causes a lot of damage to everyone, and brings little use only to the opponents of dialogue, agreement and democracy.
“Aleksandar Vučić is a responsible European statesman who cares for peace and stability, and it is obviously understood in the EU as well, but it is not enough,” the Minister of European Integration has emphasised.

According to her, the EU must clearly demonstrate that it is able to see things as they really are and to act accordingly.
”Serbia is undeniably and sincerely committed to peace and dialogue, but the other side is not, which is why the EU must engage in an even more active and responsible manner,” Joksimović has said.
