Announce on the 22.01.2018 the Second Call for project proposals under the Interreg-IPA Cross-border Cooperation Bulgaria-Serbia 2014-2020 Programme, with aim to improve the cross-border cooperation between Bulgaria and Serbia. The Programme is co-funded from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance II (IPA II) of the European Union.
The overall objective of the Programme is to stimulate the balanced and sustainable development of the Bulgaria-Serbia border region integrated in the European space - achieved through smart economic growth, environmental change adaptation and learning culture enhancement.
The total amount allocated to the First Call for proposals is 12 121 602 €.
Project proposals would have to target one of the following Priority Axes and specific objectives under the Programme:
The key objective of the Programme is to raise the capacity of the local and regional authorities in the development and implementation of joint projects in the eligible cross-border region, defined in the Programme as follows:

The deadline for submission of project proposals is 23.04.2018, 17:00 h. local Bulgarian time (EET).

A campaign for information and support of applicants is going to be organized in the upcoming months in the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Serbia. The dates and venues of the information events are going to be announced soon on the web site of the Programme (www.ipacbc-bgrs.eu).

The Danube Transnational Programme provides financial support to projects that contribute to the development of an innovative, better integrated and sustainable Danube Region. The total budget of the third call for proposals is 60 million EUR (3.3 million will be provided from the IPA). The exact date of the call will be announced soon.

The Workshop on project cycle management “Preparation of project proposals for the Cross-border Cooperation Programme Serbia-Montenegro 2014-2020” was held on October 24-25, 2018 in Vrnjacka Banja. With regard to preparation for the Second Call for Proposals, the workshop was organized by the Ministry of European Integration of the Republic of Serbia and the European Integration Office of the Government of Montenegro with the assistance of the Joint Technical Secretariat of the Programme.

Representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia paid a two-day study visit to the Ministry of European Integration of the Republic of Serbia, during which they had the opportunity to learn about the experiences of the Republic of Serbia in the EU accession process, the preparation of the Serbian version of the EU acquis and the role of the Ministry of European Integration in the coordination of institutions involved in the process of Serbia’s European integration.

The European Cooperation Day within the Interreg IPA Cross-border Co-operation Programme Croatia-Serbia 2014-2020 was celebrated on 17 October at the Children's and Youth Centre Miroslav Mika Antić in Sombor. This is a European territorial cooperation programme that establishes and encourages cooperation between four counties in eastern Croatia and five districts of north-west Serbia, with a total budget of EUR 40 million that includes IPA funds and resources provided by countries participating in the Programme.

A two-day workshop on strategic communication on European integration has been organised by the TAIEX department of the European Commission Directorate General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations in cooperation with the Ministry of European Integration.

This year’s Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region is held on 18 and 19 October 2018 in Sofia, and is organised by the Republic of Bulgaria, as the Presidency of the Danube Strategy, and the European Commission. The Forum was opened by Corina Crețu, European Commissioner for Regional Policy, and Petya Avramova, Minister of Regional Development of the Republic of Bulgaria. Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, also addressed the participants.

The session of the Committee of Regions - Republic of Serbia Joint Consultative Committee held today in Niš dealt with the Republic of Serbia’s EU accession negotiations and the impact the negotiations have at the subnational level of government. The second part of the session was dedicated to the topic of tourism as a catalyst of a better life at the local level.
Assistant Minister of European Integration Mihajilo Dašić underlined the importance of participation of representatives of local governments, AP Vojvodina and the City of Belgrade in the work of the Committee, primarily in terms of contributing to finding appropriate solutions for better functioning of subnational levels of government. The Ministry of European Integration, as an institution responsible for managing Negotiating Group 22, dealing with regional cooperation, puts special emphasis on cooperation with representatives of regional and local governments, stressed Dašić.
The Joint Consultative Committee was formed in 2014. Its task is to establish dialogue and cooperation between regional and local governments in Serbia, on the one hand, and the EU Committee of Regions, on the other, and to prepare them for participation in the work of the Committee of Regions, upon EU accession.
