In 2016, for the fifth consecutive time, the European Integration Office funded the projects of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) with the umbrella topic of the contest being "Youth and the European Union: what does the membership bring us?".
The aim of the contest was to bring the process of European integration of the Republic of Serbia and the European Union closer to our youth, as well as for high school students, to which this contest was dedicated, to gain new knowledge on this subject. Within the framework of the annual contest, a total of eight projects were supported in the total value of 3,500,000.00 dinars.
THE EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT SERBIA has organised the ninth National Conference Closing distances, unlocking Europe in Niš, which brought together over 100 young people from 12 European countries, while the European Youth Parliament Serbia, on this occasion, welcomed another 85 new members.
Organisation "LET'S..." has conducted the project "Europe and its values through processing of Serbian and European literary works", with the idea to pique the interest of Belgrade high school students for the European Union through a forum theatre, performance and debates, as well as to "break" many stereotypes and prejudices that exist in our society about this subject. During the course of the project, the cooperation with "Children's Cultural Centre in Belgrade," High School "Sveti Sava", "Secondary School of Shipping, Shipbuilding and Waterway civil engineering," Technical School "Novi Beograd", Youth Office Savski Venac and Cultural Centre "REKS" was achieved.
"Where are you studying?" is a project of the KNOWLEDGE COMMITTEE OF SERBIA association, which through its "Serbian Science Television" has produced and broadcast 16 fifteen-minute shows about the experiences of students who were studying on some of the European universities.
"How can the accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union affect your education" is a project implemented by the CHILDREN AND YOUTH SUPPORT ORGANISATION. Through six panel discussions with high school students and their teachers in Belgrade and Vranje, they were discussing the history of the formation of the EU's enlargement policy, EU institutions, the process of Serbia's European integration, European values and standards, education and culture, the Bologna process, and the EU programme for education and youth mobility - ERASMUS+.
Within the project "Young edit on Youth for Youth", developed by the LOGOSPHERE organisation from Bajina Bašta, a three-day workshop was held for the representatives of high school media which was attended by 20 participants from 10 schools from all over Serbia. The aim of this workshop was to educate the journalists and editors of high school newsletters who, with the support of experienced mentors, improved their journalistic skills and got familiar with European values with which the Republic of Serbia aligns its regulations. At the end, all workshop participants were given the manual "School Journalism", which was prepared for them by eminent journalists.
Through the project "Photowalker - EU Cross-Border Projects in my municipality", the LDA SUBOTICA has informed young people about the IPA projects which were implemented in their communities of which little was known due to the lack of affirmation of their importance for local development.
Through the project "What do you think when you say European Union?" in Kraljevo, Subotica and Belgrade, THE CIVIC INITIATIVES have trained teachers of civic education and their students to encourage young people to think about different aspects of Serbia's membership in the EU.
"RE: Activation! Place in the EU for us! " is a fifteen minute film which was created under the project of the FORUM OF CIVIL ACTION FORCA from Požega, which shows the experiences of young people who, thanks to EU programmes (Youth in Action, European Youth Foundation, European Volunteer Services, Erasmus+, Europe for Citizens), have stayed in the countries of the European Union.
