J. Joksimović: Competent authorities to react to threats made to President Vučić’s family

Commenting on the alarming, inappropriate and to the right mind inexplicable threats made via social media to the daughter and son of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović has stressed that it is absolutely unacceptable to level threats at anyone in the 21st century, particularly to the children of the President of the Republic, due to ideological differences or disagreement with someone’s policy.

“Threats to political opponents are not the legacy of the time we live in or values for which we fight and insist on”, said Joksimović, assessing that such behavior is unbecoming to all those who call themselves democrats and declare as promoters of such values.

Jadranka Joksimović has recalled that this is not the first time threats have been levelled at the members of the President’s family, emphasising that competent authorities should react in accordance with their powers.

“Such expressions of pathological hate and threats coming from those words must finally be met with reaction not only of the public, but also the competent authorities, so that every person, child and family would feel safe and protected and guaranteed their fundamental right of physical integrity and the right to personal dignity. And if an activist of one of the parties is behind this, I expect representatives of those parties to react as well”, concluded Jadranka Joksimović.
