At the competition for the student papers on the European Union, announced by the Ministry of European Integration on 19 February 2018, the following papers were rated as the best:

  1. The significance of the legislation on the protection of personal data in the process of Serbia's accession to the European Union (First-ranked)
  2. Border disputes as a challenge to the European Union's enlargement policy and European integration of Serbia (Second-ranked)
  3. The role of the European Union in normalising Belgrade-Priština relations (Third-ranked)

The Manifestation "Telling the European Story - Living Library" opened in Vračar

The manifestation "Telling the European Story - Living Library" was opened on 12 May at the St. Sava’s Plateau in Belgrade, in front of the National Library of Serbia, within the European Week in Vračar. The event was organised by the Libero Citizens' Association and the City Municipality of Vračar, in cooperation with partners and representatives of local self-governments from Skopje, Ljubljana, Brčko District, and the international organisation from Brussels.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of Serbia and German Organisation for International Cooperation (GIZ) have signed today an agreement on the implementation of the project for supporting public administration reform in Serbia, by which the intended funds have been increased from the original one and a half million euro to five million.

On the occasion of Europe Day, the Ministry of European Integration joined the city of Zrenjanin, the European Union Delegation to Serbia and the European Affairs Fund of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in organising the "European Village" event, in which children from 28 elementary schools from Zrenjanin, Tomaševac, Orlovat, Perlez and the area participated.

More than EUR 5 million for public infrastructure

Within the framework of the European Union's support to the improvement of infrastructure in two regions - Šumadija and Western Serbia and Southern and Eastern Serbia, the call for proposals for local infrastructure projects, for which the EU has allocated EUR 5.2 million, is in progress. The call is open until 29 June 2018, while the right to participate has been given to 99 local self-governments involved in the implementation of the EU PRO programme funded by the 2016 IPA Programme and implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in partnership with the Serbian Government, primarily with the Ministry of European Integration.

The International Conference ‘Cultural Heritage and the EU’ was held on Saturday, 5 May, in the Cultural Centre in Knjaževac. The Ministry of European Integration in cooperation with the Joint Secretariat of the ADRION Programme organized an Info day in Belgrade on 26th April 2018 related to the opening of the 2nd Call for Proposals under the Adriatic-Ionian Transnational Programme - ADRION. On that occasion, the most important information about the ADRION program were presented, as well as the possibilities for cooperation and project financing conditions. The participants of Info day were also informed about the program rules related to the preparation and submission of project proposals, as well as the rules for budget preparation and the eligibility of project costs.

State Secretary of the Ministry of European Integration Anja Rović has said today in Belgrade that the ‘EU Scheme for Young Professionals in the Western Balkans II’ is an example of good regional cooperation.
"We believe that this project is an example of good regional cooperation. The essence is in strengthening the administrative capacities of young civil servants and connecting them," Rović has said at a presentation of the project at the premises of the EU Info Centre.
